AHS Thrift Store plans Grand Opening 321
The AHS Thrift Store is open Tuesdays through Saturdays, 9am-5pm.
The Asheville Humane Society (AHS) will have the Grand Opening of its new thrift store at 1425 Patton Avenue, in West Asheville, on the evening of Tuesday, March 10.
The store shares space in Ashesville Humane’s Community Center, which also houses administrative personnel and the Community Solutions programs. While the store had a soft opening in February, the Grand Opening will be able to offer much more to buyers.
The thrift store was born when staff sought new ways to diversify funding. AHS has historically relied solely on private donations and grants to keep its programs running. By opening the Thrift Store, AHS is offering an attractive new way for the community to help local animals in need, either by donating goods or shopping at the store. Donations are tax deductible and 100% of the proceeds go directly to helping the animals.
The AHS Thrift Store is open Tuesdays through Saturdays from 9am-5pm. It offers a variety of items for the whole family, including pet supplies, housewares, clothes, books, furniture, jewelry and more. Donated items can be dropped off Tuesday through Saturday from 10am-4pm around the back of the building at the carport. The store also offers free pick-ups for larger furniture items, provided they meet store guidelines. (To schedule a pick-up, call 761-2002.) The guidelines and additional store information are available at ashevillehumane.org/thrift
Store Manager Kim Klaas said, “The community has been so supportive, both with donations and as shoppers, since our opening. West Elm Outlet has even donated their imperfect pieces of furniture. If you’re looking for a fun place to shop on the cheap.” Klass then enthusiastically added, “You will definitely want to check out Asheville Humane Thrift.”
Up-to-date details on the AHS Thrift Store Grand Opening are available on the store’s Instagram page (@avlhumanethrift) and Facebook page (Asheville Humane Thrift Store). The sites also display featured items and daily discounts.
