Make your dog famous! Do good! You know your dog is the best looking character in town, right? Want to see him/her as the centerpiece of posters for BARK! The Musical, and featured in the February issue of Pet Gazette? That’s the Grand Prize in this fun photo fundraiser. Contest photos will be taken at Pet Harmony (ACN), Brother Wolf and The Humane Society, for a donation. Please contact any of the three organizations directly for more information on how to make your dog TOP DOG!


ACN-AARC Needs Rescue Transport Drivers. Animal Compassion Network, in partnership with the Appalachian Animal Rescue Coalition (“Taking rescued animals home”) are in need of drivers to serve the transport program for dogs and puppies facing euthanasia. These dogs are pulled from shelters, fostered and then driven to partners in northern states, where people are waiting in line to adopt. All expenses, food and lodging are paid plus $50 in Ingles gift cards as a thank you. For more information email aarcoordinator@gmail.com or call 828-274-3647.


See 2013 in at Brother Wolf’s annual Furball Masquerade! Here’s a chance to wear your party clothes and/or that fancy costume on New Year’s Eve, enjoying an open bar, heavy hors’douevres, live entertainment and a silent auction. Event is held at Celine & Co. on Broadway from 9pm to 1 am. Tickets are available at BWAR.org.


Pinnacle Animal Hospital is hosting a Holiday Giving Tree Pick a tag for a gift off the tree, then return the requested item to Pinnacle by Dec. 22. Or, you can make a financial donation and the staff will do the shopping for you., Dr. Tim McMullen and staff have also been providing discounted care to BWAR and ACN since opening in March of this year. Donations can be dropped off at the practice at 200 Julian Lane (Long Shoals at Overlook) in Arden, Call 676-233 for more information.


Appalachian Animal Hospital welcomes new vet Dr. Erin Purvis is a 2010 graduate of the NCSU College of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Erin is very excited to bring her experience with small ruminants and camelids to the Asheville area. Stay tuned to Pet Gazette as we find out just what those are.
