Low-Cost Spay and Neuter surgeries
Low-Cost Spay and Neuter surgeries through Blue Ridge Humane Society
Blue Ridge Humane Society
Blue Ridge Humane Society is currently filling a need for low-cost spay and neuter surgeries for cats and dogs in Henderson County, but residents who sign up for this program should plan to see an increased wait time. The SNIP program uses two partner clinics to help facilitate surgery needs but due to COVID closures, overwhelming need, limited staffing, and the few surgery spots given, there is a waitlist that may not be the most convenient if your needs are urgent.
Unfortunately, Blue Ridge Humane Society doesn't control the number of surgery spots given for our animals and we have to make it work the best we can. Those who sign up for SNIP can expect about a 4 month long wait time. Even animals at our Adoption Center go on a backlog to get their surgeries scheduled because they use the same clinics as SNIP so the wait times aren’t unique to just owned animals.
The SNIP program is offered to all Henderson County residents that have a cat or dog that needs to be spayed or neutered. Despite the SNIP main office being located at Henderson County Animal Services, this program is only run by Blue Ridge Humane Society employees. Surgeries through SNIP only cost $10 and include a rabies vaccine if needed.
Those who would like to sign up for SNIP will need to access the internet to do so but if they are unable, they can call the SNIP office to do their application over the phone or schedule a time to do so in person. Due to staff transporting animals and going to various locations, someone may not be available to answer the phone right away but staff monitor the voicemails during normal business hours and will respond in a timely manner.
If you have questions pertaining to the SNIP program or would like help signing up, email firstname.lastname@example.org for the quickest response or call 828-698-4481 and leave a detailed message. Sign up here: t.ly/2Zob
